HSG Laser donates £1 million to aid Chikungunya prevention efforts

In a significant show of corporate social responsibility, HSG Laser has donated £1.02 million to support the fight against a severe Chikungunya outbreak in China’s Guangdong Province. The donation, the first of its kind from a company in the laser equipment industry, will provide crucial resources for frontline workers battling the infectious disease.
Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral disease caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV), an RNA virus in the alphavirus genus of the family Togaviridae.
Guangdong Province has been grappling with a surge in Chikungunya cases, with over 7,000 infections reported since July. The outbreak has reached a critical stage, prompting an urgent need for resources and support.
HSG Laser, a leader in the laser equipment industry, has stepped up to the challenge by donating the substantial sum to charitable organizations in Shunde District and Beijiao Town. The funds are earmarked for the purchase of protective equipment, daily necessities, and other essential supplies for the teams on the ground.
A spokesperson for HSG Laser highlighted the company’s commitment to standing with local communities during difficult times. “We believe in the importance of social responsibility, especially when our communities are facing a health crisis,” the spokesperson stated. “Our donation is a testament to our solidarity and our determination to help overcome this outbreak.”
The contribution from HSG Laser is a welcome boost for the prevention and control efforts, providing much-needed aid to those working tirelessly to contain the spread of the virus.
